Chris Hatch joined the board as District 6 trustee filling an unexpired two-year term, and was re-elected in 2006 for a full four-year term.

Mr. Hatch is a Certified Public Accountant, financial planner, stockbroker and insurance agent. He is the principal of Christopher R. Hatch, PC, a professional accounting and financial services firm. Mr. Hatch earned an MBA from Arizona State University, where he also completed undergraduate work in finance. 

Of all the District’s recent initiatives, Mr. Hatch is most proud of the reintroduction of art and music in the primary grades.  He’d also like to see reforms made in such a way that it dramatically improves student performance.

Mr. Hatch enjoys travel and playing tennis. His other interests include scuba diving, reading, the visual arts, astronomy and foreign language.  He has two children. Kristin is a graduate of Southwest High School and Texas A&M. Tanner is an Arlington Heights High School graduate and a student at Texas A&M University.

Accomplishments of the Board of Education

  • Conducted a nationwide search for a new superintendent of schools resulting in the hiring of Melody A. Johnson
  • Balanced District budget through reductions of $50 million over the last four years with $3 million cut from the central office alone
  • Charged the District’s administrators with improving student achievement
  • Developed and adopted Procedures and Standards of Practice for the Board resulting in a cohesive and committed team
  • Established and utilized community advisory committees in the areas of technology, facilities, budget and audit functions
  • Adopted policies that ensure transparency of operations
  • Reinstated music and art into the curriculum for primary grades
  • Developed the first strategic performance plan with high standards and accountability measures
  • Defined staff responsibilities and accountability more clearly and implemented efficient and ethical business practices

  • District 6 had 511 Texas Scholars in the Class of 2007
  • District 6 has 4 Superintendent’s Scholars for 2007-2008

  • Westcliff ES’s Kerry Renta was named Lockheed Martin Elementary Science Chair for 2007-2008
  • McLean MS’s Douglas Heick named RadioShack Secondary Math Chair for 2006
  • Woodway ES’s Nancy Duncan was named the National PE Teacher of the Year
  • Southwest HS’s Jamie McNeil was named the 2006 FWISD Secondary Teacher of the Year 
  • Wedgwood MS’s Andrew Trinh won 2007-2008 Area Spelling Bee
  • Woodway ES’s Traci Logue received KERA Master Teacher Award for Science and Technology
  • South Hills ES received Golden Apple Award for volunteer hours
  • McLean MS students collected 2,500+ items for the Pet Food Drive
  • Alice Contreras ES Accelerated Reader program circulated more than 65,000 books to students this year
  • McLean MS Whiz Quiz teams completes second undefeated year
  • McLean MS students travel to Paris to practice their French
  • Best School Award given to Wedgwood MS’s Junior Cadet Corps at 2008 Leadership Camp
  • Westcreek ES students participated in a school-wide community service project
  • Southwest HS’s Advanced Media Program (AMP) students help produce election coverage and Whiz Quiz broadcasts
