In July '09, high school student Kimberly Anyadike flew a single-engine Cessna cross country, from her Compton, CA hometown to Newport News, VA, and is thought to be the youngest African American female pilot to complete the journey. She plans to attend an Ivy League university and become a cardiovascular surgeon, while keeping her pilot skills intact.
An eighth-grader, Galen Dodd is a member of the National Junior Honor Society and volunteers regularly with the Bumper Foundation, where he's also a volunteer coordinator, and Mary's Little Lambs Dog Rescue. After he graduates from college, he intends to work in the animal rescue field.
Rocio Ortega is president of her high school sophomore class and a staff officer for the Junior Operation Training Corps program. She's made a difference in her community by volunteering for numerous events and organizing her school's 9/11 observance ceremony. Ortega's future goal is to attend the U.S. Military Academy and become an officer to serve her country.

Eduardo "Eddie" Campos is a high school senior and active in student government. He's a founding member of City Year Los Angeles' City Heroes program, performing over 200 hours of community service and planning service days for middle and high school students. Campos wants to create programs that help kids pursue their goals, dreams and passions.
Kate Sim is also a high school senior and volunteers with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles Youth Programs, serving as president of its Youth United Steering Committee. Under her leadership, the young people sponsored their first house. Sim is also committed to ending global poverty and plans to be an international civil rights attorney.
Cortlan Wickliff has conducted significant research in biofuels and biomedicine, which led him to work on a device that tests hearing in severely premature infants. He's also organized a youth camp for 200 kids to teach them about math and science. Wickliff will graduate from college in 2010.
