  Fort Worth ISD Valedictorians and Salutatorians Named 

District-wide Students Have Been Offered More Than $44M in Scholarship Money – So Far 

Fort Worth ISD seniors will claim high school diplomas during commencement ceremonies to be held the first week of June. The Class of 2009 will pursue higher education at dozens of colleges in Texas and across the nation, and as of the end of April, had been offered nearly $44.5 M in scholarship money. That figure will increase by the end of this month.   

Here is a list of the District’s top scholars and their intended universities and fields of study. 

Arlington Heights High School

Johns Hopkins University is the destination of Arlington Heights High School valedictorian Tyler Pernes, 18. Tyler will major in applied mathematics/physics. Salutatorian Preston Chilton, 18, will attend Texas Christian University Honors College and major in biology. 

Arlington Heights High School commencement will take place on June 7 at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum. 

Amon Carter-Riverside High School 

Amon Carter-Riverside High School’s Hanh T. Dinh is the school’s 2009 valedictorian and will attend Texas A&M University this fall, where she will major in biochemistry. Salutatorian is Victor A. Magana also plans to attend Texas A&M University, where he will major in computer engineering. 

Will Rogers Auditorium is the setting for commencement exercises for Carter-Riverside High School’s graduates on June 5.  

Diamond Hill-Jarvis High School 

Diamond Hill-Jarvis High School 2009 valedictorian is Lizbeth Munoz, 18. She’ll major in nursing at the University of Texas at ArlingtonDiana P. Zuniga, 17, is the salutatorian. Diana plans to attend the University of Texas, where she will major in image management.

Diamond Hill-Jarvis High School commencement ceremonies will be held on June 6 at Will Rogers Auditorium.

Paul Laurence Dunbar High School 

Vanessa A. Norris, 18, valedictorian of Dunbar High School’s Class of 2009, will attend the Texas Christian University where she will major in biochemistry. Wendy Wolfgang, 18, is Dunbar’s salutatorian and plans to attend University of Texas at Arlington, where she will major in architecture. 

Dunbar High School’s seniors will hold commencement exercises on June 5 at Wilkerson-Greines. 

Eastern Hills High School 

Eastern Hills High School valedictorian Tyler Le leads the class of 2009 and plans to attend the University of Texas at Arlington and major in biology. Salutatorian Kameron B. Richie will attend Texas State University and major in graphic design. 

June 4 is the date for Eastern Hills High School’s graduation ceremonies. The event will take place at Wilkerson-Greines Activity Center.  

North Side High School 

Valedictorian for North Side High School is Gilberto Vazquez, 17, who will attend Texas Christian University and major in biochemistry. Salutatorian is Tiana Boykin, 17, who is headed to Emory University, where she will major in biology.   

Ceremonies for North Side High School will be held on June 6, at Wilkerson-Greines Activity Center. 

R.L. Paschal High School 

Gina Alice A. Ford is the valedictorian of Paschal High School’s class of 2009.  Gina plans to attend Southern Methodist University this fall where she will study oboe performance and linguistics. Salutatorian is Satyajit Balial who will study biomedical engineering at the University of Texas. 

Paschal High School’s commencement is at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum on June 4. 

Polytechnic High School 

Juanita Olalde, 17, is the valedictorian for Polytechnic High School’s Class of 2009. Juanita will attend the Texas Wesleyan University and will major in English. Salutatorian is Cecilia Juarez, 17, who is headed to University of North Texas, where she plans to major in pre-dentistry.

Poly High School will participate in ceremonies on June 4 at Will Rogers Auditorium. 

South Hills High School 

South Hills High School valedictorian Taylor Breen, 18, will attend Columbia University this fall where she will study civil engineering. Salutatorian Gilberto Villalobos, 18, is headed to the University of Texas at Arlington, where he will major in computer engineering. 

Wilkerson-Greines Activity Center will be the setting for commencement for South Hills on June 7. 

Southwest High School 

Zach Turner is the valedictorian of Southwest High School for 2009 and will attend the University of Southern California this fall, where he will major in engineering. Salutatorian Leslie Rogers, 18 will attend the University of Texas where she will study engineering. 

Southwest High School’s graduates will participate in commencement on June 6 at Wilkerson-Greines Activity Center. 

Green B. Trimble Technical High School 

Courtney M. Ingram, 18, is the valedictorian of the 2009 class of Green B. Trimble Technical High School.  Courtney plans to attend Texas Christian University where she will major in nursing. Salutatorian of Trimble Tech this year is Alejandra Mendez, 18, who is headed to Texas A&M University, where she will major in biomedical science. 

The graduates of Trimble Tech High School will participate in ceremonies at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum on June 5.  

Western Hills High School 

Yuliana Lementova, 17, is the valedictorian of Western Hills High School Class of 2009.  Yuliana will attend the University of Texas at Arlington, where she will major in civil engineering. Salutatorian Chandrie E. Cook, 17, is headed to the University of Texas, where she will major in nutrition and pre-med. 

Seniors will graduate from Western Hills on June 6 at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum.  

Oscar Dean Wyatt High School 

Valedictorian Meyer A. Criss, 17, leads the graduates at O.D. Wyatt High School this year. Meyer plans to attend the University of Texas, where he will major in biology. Salutatorian is Sharrice A. Knox, 18, who will attend Texas A&M University and major in engineering. 

Wilkerson-Greines Activity Center will be the setting for O.D. Wyatt High School graduation ceremonies on June 7.  

Success High School 

Success High School’s top honor graduate this year is Shilah Mohammad Naem who plans to attend Tarrant County College and study medicine. Tarrant County College is also the destination for second honor graduate Pedro Frias. 

Graduates of Success High School will participate in commencement exercises on June 6 at Will Rogers Auditorium.
