Students Offer Feedback on PEAK Program

About a dozen students from Fort Worth ISD’s PEAK campuses gathered Thursday, June 4, to discuss the impact of the program at their respective schools.

PEAK -- Public Educators Accelerating Kids -- is the District’s pilot program to reenergize and transform schools toward greater academic performance.  The program also provides a monetary rewards initiative for teachers and professional support staff.

The PEAK Student Feedback Luncheon was hosted and facilitated by Fort Worth ISD Associate Superintendent Sherry Breed, at Dunbar High School, but there were representatives from all of the PEAK high school campuses.

Students talked about changes they’ve seen on their campuses since the implementation of the PEAK program.  They especially noted an improvement in the teacher-student relationship – and commented that this has been a positive in their ability to learn.  They also complemented the effectiveness of some innovative teaching techniques being used by PEAK teachers.

The District will review all of the feedback from the students and this information will be used to improve instructional delivery.

“I thought the students gave us some good solid comments and they will be helpful as they go forward,” said Mrs. Breed.
