FWISD BOARD OF EDUCATION HONORS LEGACY OF LATE EDUCATOR

Fort Worth, Texas – The Fort Worth ISD has agreed to recognize the memory of veteran teacher Richard Hinojosa by naming the gymnasium at H.V. Helbing Elementary School in his honor.

Mr. Hinojosa taught physical education nine years. He was a very dedicated teacher committed to the welfare of his community. He organized teams and ran with the students in the Cowtown Marathon and tutored students on his own time. Mr. Hinojosa served as a technology coordinator, organized a Ballet Folkloric Dance Group and was a choir director.

Aside from his many projects outside the gym, Mr. Hinojosa always found time to get to know people and as a result touched the lives of many students with his graciousness and kindness.  He died of cancer in April 2008.

The naming of this facility will continue to honor this dedicated educator.
