POLY HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT NAMED STUDENT AMBASSADOR

Fort Worth, Texas – Sixteen year old Osvaldo “Ozzy” Rodriguez, a tenth grader at FWISD’s Polytechnic High School, has been named a Student Ambassador in the U.S. Department of Education’s 21st Century program.

Student Ambassadors will represent their state and their After School Programs at the Summer Institute in Nashville, TN from July 7 through 9, 2009.

“This is such an awesome opportunity for everyone involved.  I know without a doubt that this could have been any one of our awesome students,” said Poly Principal Gary Braudaway.

Ozzy is active in many school activities including AVID, Fort Worth After School, mariachis (singer and musician) and the Poly Poetry Club (where he has won several awards).

Across Texas, school districts submitted nominations for more than ninety students to earn the title of Student Ambassador. Ozzy will be participating in additional institutes for years to come as the 21st Century program follows his social and academic progress.
