WHY: To honor the American Indian culture and to promote the American Indian Education Program in the Fort Worth ISD.
PHOTO OPPORTUNITIES: Native American dance exhibitions, ceremonial activities, drumming and traditional customs
The Fort Worth ISD 2st Annual Indian Student Pow-Wow will promote the importance of the American Indian heritage. Additionally it will encourage student identification and participation in the American Indian Education Program in the FWISD. The event will provide for a gathering of Native people in the surrounding area and is co-sponsored by the American Indian Parent Advisory Committee.
Attendees can expect to learn about the American Indian culture, the meaning of a Pow-Wow and experience the beauty and sanctity of the ceremony.
“I am hopeful that visitors will leave the event with a better understanding and appreciation of the American Indian culture,” said June Davis, Director of Student Support Services for the FWISD. “We welcome participation and invite the community to come and be a part of our second annual Pow- Wow.”
