SCHOOL PREP ACTIVITIES FOR FRIDAY, AUGUST 21, 2009

Fort Worth, Texas – While Fort Worth ISD teachers and staff continue to prepare campuses for the return of students on Monday August 24, 2009, two specific visual events will happen tomorrow, Friday!

As is tradition in the FWISD a “practice” bus run will take place with the first buses rolling out of the bus yards at approximately 5:30a.m. The main bus yard is located on Wichita Street in south Fort Worth, immediately adjacent to Clark Field.

This “practice” run not only benefits drivers. Parents and their students are invited to take part. Buses will drive the normally scheduled routes and pick up students and parents and transport them to their school. Buses will then return passengers to their regular drop off points.

“For new students, or students changing schools, this exercise helps them get used to the service without the pressure of it being the first day of school too,” said Sharon Spears, District Director of Transportation. “It also helps assure moms and dads that their children know which bus to take.”

At 8:30a.m. Friday Polytechnic High School faculty, staff, community supporters and alumni will gather around the school flagpole to welcome the new school year.

This event is quickly becoming an annual Poly tradition. Dressed in Poly orange and energized by the school drum corps, staffers will be encouraged to help the students have another outstanding year.
