Members of the Fort Worth Police Department, Fire Station # 12 and the North Side JROTC will participate in the ceremony.

The ceremony is scheduled to be held in front the North Side High School flag pole beginning at 8:00AM.  The inclement weather site will be the North Side High School auditorium.

Leonard Middle School will conduct a 9/11 ceremony on September 11, 2009 beginning at 10:00 a.m. The Fort Worth and Benbrook Police and Fire Departments have been invited to send representatives.

The Leonard Junior Cadet Corps will raise a flag that flew over the Pentagon on May 6, 2009, the 40th anniversary of Leonard Middle School. Marty Leonard, the daughter of the school’s namesake, Marvin Leonard, will be a guest speaker.

Stripling Middle School will hold its annual Freedom Walk. The Walk is held to show respect to thse who lost their lives on 9/11, as well as to honor the contributions of our service men and women who have, both in the past and present, fought for our freedom.  We also walk to renew our commitment to freedom and the values of our country. After walking the perimeter of our building, students will congregate at the front of the school, where the flag will be lowered and taps played.

DMcRae Elementary School students, parents, and staff will gather at 8:30 a.m. on September 11 to rememeber and reflect on the tragic events of that day. A flag cermony will take place along with a wreath, flower and written reflection laying, followed by a moment of silence.

By a joint resolution approved December 18, 2001 (Public Law 107-89), the Congress has designated September 11 of each year as "Patriot Day." On this day the American flag is to be flown at half-staff on all federal buildings. Many citizens of the United States observe Patriot Day with appropriate ceremonies, activities, and remembrance services, display the flag at half-staff from their homes, and observe a moment of silence beginning at 8:46 a.m. eastern daylight time to honor the innocent Americans and people from around the world who lost their lives as a result of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
