SUMMARY: Fort Worth ISD’s E.M. Daggett Elementary School will celebrate its 100th Anniversary with a student-centered event on Tuesday, September 29, 2009.

Shortly before dismissal students will form into a “100” on the playground to symbolize the century that Daggett ES has been serving the community. To add to the festive atmosphere there will be a large inflatable birthday cake and students will be able to contribute to a “treasure chest time capsule” that will be buried under the school.

A committee of parents, staff, alumni and interested citizens has been hard at work since last year planning events surrounding Daggett’s centennial. The celebration will be highlighted by a week-long observance in November that will include patriotic, art, dance and historical programs.

A major effort in planning the celebration has been the attempt to contact as many alumni and former students as possible. Additionally the Centennial Committee has been successful in collecting old photographs and memorabilia reflecting the schools history.
