FWISD CELEBRATES HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH

Fort Worth, Texas – The Fort Worth Independent School District is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month between September 15 and October 15, 2009.

The Board of Education proclaimed Hispanic Heritage Month in the Fort Worth ISD at the regularly scheduled Board meeting on Tuesday, September 22, 2009. The proclamation applauds the contributions that those of Hispanic heritage have provided the FWISD, the local community, the State of Texas and the United States of America.

In addition to the formal proclamation, Fort Worth ISD has created a montage of distinguished graduates who are community leaders that is posting in the Video on Demand portion of the District Web site, www.fwisd.org.

Dolores Huerta Elementary School is continuing a 20 year tradition with a school-wide museum for students, parents and the community. The purpose of the museum is to display and showcase work created by our students in the areas of reading, writing, geography, history and art in connection to National Hispanic Heritage Month.

The Hispanic Heritage Museum at Dolores Huerta ES will be open during school hours, from Monday, September 28 to Friday, October 16, 2009.  All visitors will receive a complimentary brochure of all our classroom exhibits.
