 STUDENT CIVIC INITIATIVE AT TRIMBLE TECH HIGH SCHOOL 

WHAT: Student Civic Initiative sponsored by Fort Worth ISD, Board of Education Trustee Juan Rangel, Tarrant County Elections Department, United Hispanic Council and Constable Sergio DeLeon. 

WHEN:  Friday, October 16, 2009, 12:45 p.m. (approximately) 

WHERE: Library of Trimble Tech High School, 1003 W. Cannon, Fort Worth, Mapsco 76H 

SUMMARY: On Friday, October 16, 2009, students at Fort Worth ISD’s Trimble Tech High School will have the opportunity to participate in a Student Civic Initiative. 

The Student Civic Initiative is designed to heighten civic awareness among young people and engage them to take an active part in the political process. Additionally, the Initiative will attempt to foster a dialogue on local and national issues affecting young people. 

The keynote speaker will be New Mexico Secretary of State Mary Herrera. Other participants will include FWISD Board Representative for District 8 Juan Rangel, Tarrant County Constable for District 5 Sergio DeLeon and Fort Worth City Councilman Sal Espino. 

Students participating in the Initiative will have an opportunity to ask questions of the elected officials and to register as a voter if they haven’t already done so.
