FWISD MARCHING BAND IS STATE BOUND 

Fort Worth, Texas – Fort Worth ISD’s Southwest High School Raider Marching Band has advanced to the UIL State Marching Band Contest following their outstanding showing in the finals of the UIL Area B Marching Band Contest. This is the first time in the history of Fort Worth ISD that a marching band has advanced to the state level competition.   

The band, under the direction of Stacey Dunn, Gaspar Garcia, Jeff DeMaagd, Joshua Bowman (Percussion), and Bethany Longcrier (Colorguard), had a solid performance in both the preliminary competition and the finals. Twenty-three bands competed in the preliminary round with the top 10 selected to perform in the finals.   

Students, parents and staff were elated when the results were announced and learned they earned one of the top four spots advancing to the state level. UIL State Marching Band Conference AAAA Prelims & Finals will be held on Tuesday, November 3 in San Antonio’s Alamodome.
