 FWISD LAUNCHES ASPIRING PRINCIPALS PROGRAM

Fort Worth, Texas – The final application deadline for FWISD Leadership Academy’s Aspiring Principals Program is Friday, November 6, 2009. Professional portfolios should be delivered to the Leadership Development Department, 3150 McCart Av, Suite 214, no later than 4:30 pm.

The Leadership Academy allows Fort Worth ISD to “grow” its own school principals through collaboration with UT-Arlington.

The Aspiring Principals Program is being funded by a five year $3.5 million federal grant. Cohorts of 12-15 participants will begin classes in the summer of 2009 to learn the “Fort Worth Way”. Successful completion will result in a Master of Education with a Principal certification.

“This is a program to motivate leaders who are candidates for principal or assistant principal positions,” said Melody Johnson, Superintendent of the Fort Worth ISD. “School leaders that are educated in how we operate on a daily basis will allow them to concentrate more on educating our children.”

Candidates must be committed to working within the FWISD for the next five years, be committed to eliminating the achievement gap and be infused with professional resilience.
