CELEBRATE THE SPIRIT OF POLY! 

WHAT: Community festival and celebration in honor of the academic gains achieved by Poly High School students 

WHEN: Saturday, October 31, 2009, 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. 

WHERE: Parade will begin at Poly High School and wind west on Rosedale to Texas Wesleyan University 

VISUALS: Poly HS marching band, JROTC, students on parade, speeches, proclamations, bounce house, face painting, games and music DJ 

SUMMARY: Supporters of Fort Worth ISD’s Polytechnic High School will sponsor a Celebrate the Poly Spirit fall festival and celebration honoring Poly HS students, faculty and staff for their remarkable achievements on last spring’s TAKS test.  The effort is being spearheaded by Texas State Senator Wendy Davis. 

A parade featuring the Poly High School student body, the school band and local and state dignitaries will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 31 at the high school. The parade will wind west on Rosedale to the campus Texas Wesleyan University, ending in front of the Eunice and James L. West Library.  

Following proclamations and resolutions honoring the academic achievements of Poly students last school year, everyone will be welcome to enjoy bounce houses, face painting, balloon artists, music and food. 

“We are really pleased to have this chance to introduce our students and faculty to the community,” said Poly Principal Gary Braudaway. “This is a chance for our neighbors to shake hands with our kids and recognize their hard work and academic successes.” 

Scheduled to attend the event are:

·        State Senator Wendy Davis

·        State Representative Marc Veasey

·        Tarrant County Commissioner Roy C. Brooks

·        Fort Worth City Councilwoman Kathleen Hicks

·        Fort Worth ISD Board of Education Trustees

·        Representative of Texas Wesleyan University 

In the event of rain, the celebration will be held in Parking Lot D on the TWU campus.
