FWISD ANNOUNCES NEWEST MEMBERS OF “WALL OF FAME”
Fort Worth, Texas – Four former Fort Worth ISD students have been added to the District’s Wall of Fame.
The newest members are:
· Louis J. Zapata – Technical High School
· Erwin “Skeeter” Hagler – Eastern Hills High School
· Rose Olmos Herrera – Trimble Tech High School
· Hugh Parmer – Polytechnic High School
With these latest additions, there are now 111 graduates or former students featured on the Wall of Fame.
Louis J. Zapata was the first Hispanic elected to the Fort Worth City Council. He was chairman of the DFW International Airport Board and he was president of the National League of Cities Minority Caucus Committee.
Erwin “Skeeter” Hagler is a professional photographer who has worked for the Waco News Tribune, The Dallas Times Herald and the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Mr. Hagler was the recipient of the 1980 Pulitzer Prize for Photography.
Rose Olmos Herrera is a former vice-president of the Fort Worth Board of Education. She was treasurer of the Mexican-American School Board Association of Texas. She was awarded the 2001 Outstanding Service Award by the City of Fort Worth.
Hugh Parmer is a former Mayor of the City of Fort Worth. Mr. Parmer served as a Texas state senator and member of the Texas House of Representatives. He is a former president of the American Refugee Committee and served as an assistant administrator at US Agency for International Development.
As part of its Quasquicentennial celebration, FWISD launched a search for well-known former students. Many of those local, regional and national achievers and leaders are honored on a Wall of Fame in the District Administration Building. Individual members are also featured weekly on the District’s Web site, www.fwisd.org.
