Superintendent’s Student Scholarship
Fort Worth, Texas - Fort Worth Independent School District Superintendent Melody Johnson is dedicating a portion of her personal salary to help deserving students pay for college. With the Superintendent’s Student Scholarship Fund, Dr. Johnson is making a tangible commitment to students who have demonstrated personal and academic achievement.
Scholarships of up to $5,000 are available to Fort Worth ISD seniors who have at least a GPA of 3.0, demonstrate a commitment to personal growth and service to others and have a financial need.
“It is an honor for me fund this scholarship and reward deserving young people who are working hard to better themselves,” said Dr. Johnson. “ Those are the young people who will pay-it-forward by contributing to others with the kind of aid and support they have themselves been given.”
A committee of educational and business professionals who share Dr. Johnson’s vision for educational opportunity will review the applications and select the award finalists. These students will be invited for a personal interview with the review committee. With the committee’s recommendations, Dr. Johnson will make the final determination of the award recipients.
