Fort Worth ISD Loves Santa Claus

We want to clarify recent news reports that make it appear that the Fort Worth ISD is banning Santa Claus and Christmas celebrations from its schools.  This is not true.

To clarify:  we only said Santa Claus could not visit the classroom while the teacher is teaching (i.e. during the instructional day.)

“Santa Claus is welcome to visit our schools.  He can be in the lobby.  He can be in the cafeteria.  He can be in the auditorium.  He can be in the school, outside the school, around the school,” says Interim Superintendent Walter Dansby.  “But he cannot visit the classroom while the teacher is teaching.”

As for kids exchanging presents and cards, that, too may have been misunderstood.

“They may do so before class, after class, in the hallway, in the lunchroom,” says Mr. Dansby. “But, they can’t exchange gifts or cards during classroom instruction.”

Fort Worth ISD loves Santa Claus and continues to support his universal message of generosity and kindness.
