FORT WORTH ISD GROWS PARENT PORTAL REGISTRATION MORE THAN 20 PERCENT

More Than 3,000 Parents Added During Sign-Up Contest

Kirkpatrick Elementary Parent Portal CampaignFort Worth ISD continues to engage families in an effort to register parents for Parent Portal. The online tool connects parents and guardians to student grades, attendance, schedule and more - making it easier than ever to track your child's learning and contact his or her teachers.

During a two-week period earlier this month, schools added 3,049 new parents to Parent Portal, bringing the total number to more than 17,800.  That's 20.7 percent growth as a District!

"Our schools came up with several great ideas for encouraging parents to sign up," said Superintendent Walter Dansby.  "Faculty and staff should be commended for their efforts.  But the real winners here are our students and their progress in the classroom."

At Milton L. Kirkpatrick Elementary, faculty and staff members embraced a baseball theme for their sign-up campaign, creating fliers that read "Join Your Child's Learning Team" and "When the umpire calls BATTER UP, will your child be ready?"  Parents who registered for Parent Portal were entered into a drawing for one of three sets of family tickets to a Texas Rangers baseball game.

"We thought about the fact that baseball teams all work together and include many, many different people and positions to make a team and an individual player successful," explained Librarian Leah Moreno.  "It's the same for a child who needs help and guidance from many people, including their family, to succeed."

For every 20 parents schools signed up between April 9 and April 20, the school received another chance to win a catered meal for teachers and staff in a drawing.  Prizes will be awarded to one high school, middle school and elementary school.
