A SPECIAL INVITATION FROM OUR STUDENTS…
Alice Carlson Applied Learning Center Celebrates 20 Years
Fifth graders at Alice Carlson Applied Learning Center have a message – a press release really – for the school’s alumni, students, parents, and members of the community and news media.
To whom it may concern:
We are having our 20 years celebration at Alice Carlson. We are going to have it at the Intercultural Festival on June 1st from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. There will be booths outside and inside. There will be games, drinks, snacks, awesome prizes, plus an Alumni booth where you can look at old yearbooks and scrapbooks. At 1:30 that day, Alumni can come and watch a play about the school. You can pick up your old family banners as well. So come and celebrate with Alice Carlson.
Sincerely, Zoe, Luke, Tony, and Amanda
You got it – you’re invited to help celebrate the school’s 20th anniversary on Friday, June 1 at 3320 West Cantey Street, Fort Worth.
These fifth grade PR pros have been researching Carlson’s history, and are available for interviews upon request. Pictured from left to right: Luke Montez, Zoe Rodriguez, Amanda Lovett and Tony Avitia.
Alice Carlson Applied Learning Center opened in 1992 with a unique mission - to apply real world principles to students’ lives and education. That vision continues to be reflected in everything in the school does, day in and day out.
As part of the celebration, the school will also pay tribute to former Fort Worth ISD Superintendent Dr. Don Roberts, who passed away earlier this month. Roberts' project C3 or "C Cubed" called for classrooms, corporations and the community to work together to improve schools.
"We are truly indebted to this great man of vision," said Carlson Principal Jeannie Robinson. "He changed my life as an educator by encouraging us to do a different kind of teaching and learning – the applied learning method. He will be remembered fondly here on Friday."

LEARN MORE
As a Fort Worth ISD School of Choice, Alice Carlson Applied Learning Center encourages children to be independent learners while working as members of a team to apply classroom learning to new situations. Applied learning students work with businesses and organizations outside the classrooms to complete hands-on, real-world, child-centered projects within authentic learning situations.
Carlson’s enrichment program provides opportunities for students to study areas of particular interest, participate in fine arts and provide volunteer service to the school and community. Students also receive instruction by certified specialists in music, art, computers and physical education.
