2012 FWISD JOB FAIR TARGETS RECENT GRADS

Fort Worth, Texas – Just graduated from high school? Need a job? A career? Cash for college? The 2012 Hiring Fair is designed to help the recent Fort Worth ISD graduate, as well as current seniors, with all of those critical questions. 

The Hiring Fair is scheduled for Thursday, June 7, 2012. It will be held at the Exhibits Hall of Will Rogers Memorial Center, 3401 West Lancaster Ave., Fort Worth. The operating hours will be 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. 

Event partners will include the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce, the Fort Worth Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Fort Worth Metropolitan Black Chamber of Commerce, Volunteer Center of North Texas and Workforce Solutions for Tarrant County.

This 19th annual Hiring Fair is for job applicants only so attendees are asked to not bring children. Prospective employers expect applicants to arrive prepared so here are a few tips on how to be ready:

What to Bring:

  • Work History (Employment and Volunteer)
  • Dates of Employment
  • Supervisors' names
  • Addresses
  • Phone numbers
  • Contact information for three references
  • Pen (black or blue ink)
  • 20 Resumes in a folder

Be ready to answer questions regarding:

  • Skills and abilities
  • Available days and times to work

Dress to impress! Be interview ready!

LADIES - Clothes:

  • Clean, conservative and neatly pressed; nothing trendy
  • Dark, solid colors (black, navy, gray, brown)
    • Dress or skirt (knee-length or longer)
    • Dress pants
    • Suit (preferred)
  • Light or dark solid-colored blouse/top, no bright colors
  • Sheer hosiery
  • Polished dress shoes (closed-toe and heel in black, brown, tan)

Hair: Conservatively-styled

Jewelry:

  • Minimal is preferred; maximum is listed
  • Necklace: One simple-style, classy chain
  • Rings: One per hand
  • Watch/Bracelets: One per wrist
  • Earrings: Only one pair of small studs or hoops; no dangling earrings

Miscellaneous:

  • Keep make-up light and simple to look natural
  • No perfume
  • Cover body piercings and tattoos

GENTLEMEN - Clothes:

  • Clean, conservative and neatly pressed; nothing trendy
  • Dark, solid colors (black, navy, gray, brown)
    • Dress pants
    • Sport jacket
    • Suit (preferred)
  • White or light solid-colored dress shirt, no bright colors
  • Conservatively-styled dress tie
  • Dress socks that match pants
  • Polished dress shoes (black or brown)

Hair: Conservatively-styled; well-trimmed, neatly groomed; no headwear 

Jewelry:

  • Minimal is preferred; maximum is listed
  • Only one ring and one watch
  • No bracelets, necklaces, chains or earrings

Miscellaneous:

  • Neat facial grooming
  • No cologne
  • Cover body piercings and tattoos
