Fun Reading Event Attracts Families

On Saturday, June 23, families from Fort Worth ISD’s De Zavala and Daggett Elementary Schools Parents as Teachers programs joined families from Camp Fire and the City of Fort Worth’s Early Childhood Matters program for an action-packed reading event! Books were given to all children under five. Books are provided by the Red Oak Foundation.

Families participated in a group reading by special guests, a book walk, and had the opportunity to tour a fire truck, a school bus and other BIG vehicles! There were also book-making activities, a sing-a-long on the school bus, and refreshments!

The event was a joint venture of the Red Oak Foundation, the Fort Worth Independent School District, Parents as Teachers, Camp Fire USA, the City of Fort Worth, Early Childhood Matters and the Fort Worth Library.
