FWISD RECEIVES MAJOR GRANT FROM TARGET

Fort Worth, Texas – The Fort Worth ISD has been awarded a $125,000 grant from the Target Foundation to provide support for elementary literacy.

The grant will provide funds to train teachers in reading intervention skills; promote a Culture of Reading with families of FWISD students; and purchase and distribute Reading Connection Beginning Edition, a newsletter that provides reading tips to families of students who are learning to read and mastering reading skills.

Target is committed to giving back to the communities in which it operates stores.  This year, Target will give over $3 million/week to nonprofit organizations nationwide.

FWISD staff will attend professional development on the assessment system and small group instruction techniques. Teachers who attend the training will be given the materials required to provide the small group instruction on their campus.

Target is a proud supporter of the Fort Worth Independent School District.
