FWISD Mourns the Passing of Football Coach John Naylor, Jr.
Fort Worth, Texas – John W. Naylor, Jr., the longtime football coach at Fort Worth ISD’s Trimble Tech High School died on Thursday, June 28, 2012. The 81 year old Coach Naylor had been hospitalized for several days with an illness.
For 25 years, half of his coaching and teaching career, he worked at Trimble Tech influencing the lives of thousands of students. Under his leadership TTHS experienced its first winning season in 1971 (7-3).
“The stature and respect Mr. Naylor achieved in Fort Worth with his players, as a coach and as mentor to students, still lives to this day among those whom he impacted,” said Executive Athletic Director Kevin Greene. “I know when you played against his teams in the past you’d better have tightened up your chin strap. He will be missed but remembered as one of the best in our District.”
In February of 2011, in recognition of his contributions to students, Trimble Tech High School and the Fort Worth ISD, the Board of Education named the Trimble Tech Field House to be the John W. Naylor, Jr. Field House.
