FWISD SUPERINTENDENT DELIVERS STATE OF EDUCATION ADDRESS

Fort Worth, Texas - The State of Education in the Fort Worth ISD is strong, according to Superintendent Walter Dansby. On Wednesday, August 29, 2012, Mr. Dansby delivered the 10th annual State of Education address to a luncheon sponsored by the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce at Ridglea Country Club.

Using live comments and a fourteen minute video presentation the superintendent told the assembled group that improving student achievement starts at the ring of the bell, with choices for students to pursue studies that interest them most and the creation of learning networks. Additionally, his comments covered:

  • Gold Seal Programs of Choice - the most comprehensive re-design of secondary schools in the nation.
  • Learning Networks – with school leadership directors, liaisons from nearly every district department and content specialists assigned to specific schools.
  • Consistent bell schedules - adding up to several more weeks’ worth of instruction time.

The start of the 2012-2013 school years marks Mr. Dansby's first year as full-time superintendent. The 39 year Fort Worth ISD veteran did serve as interim superintendent to begin the 2011-2012 school year.
