FLU SEASON IS UPON US

Fort Worth, TexasThe Fort Worth ISD urges all students, parents and employees to get a flu vaccination. Recent news reports indicate Texas is one of the states at the epicenter of this year's flu outbreak.

Flu is a contagious disease caused by the influenza virus, which can be spread by coughing, sneezing, or nasal secretions. Flu vaccinations are one way to help minimize the spread of this disease.

Significant flu information is available from the Tarrant County Public Health Department. Flu shots are available at all of the County's Public Health Clinics. Fort Worth ISD employees who have the TRS-ActiveCare insurance through Blue Cross Blue Shiled may find there is no charge for the vaccination

Vaccination clinics for employees were offered earlier in the fall at most campuses. Medical professionals say it is not too late to derive protection from a flu shot.
