ARE YOU REGISTERED TO VOTE? GET REGISTERED!
Fort Worth, Texas - The last day to register to vote for the November 6, 2012 General Election is Tuesday, October 9, 2012.
This can be either the postmark date or the date the application is received in the office of the voter registrar. You may, of course, register at any time before that date to ensure that your registration is effective for voting in November. You can obtain a voter registration application from your voter registrar's office, libraries, most post offices and FWISD high schools. Students will receive information through the government classes.
The qualifications are:
To be eligible to register in Texas, you must:
- be a U.S. citizen;
- be a resident of the county;
- be 18 years old (you may register at 17 years and 10 months);
- not a convicted felon (unless a person's sentence is completed, including any probation or parole)
- not declared mentally incapacitated by a court of law
Additional information may be found on the Texas Secretary of State website. Here you can download a voter registration form which you can mail in. Remember, the form must receive a postmark no later than Tuesday, October 9.
