YES VIRGINIA, THERE IS A SANTA CLAUS
Fort Worth, Texas (November 29, 2012) – Santa Claus has made at early stop at Fort Worth ISD’s J.P Elder Middle School.
Over the Thanksgiving holiday someone broke into the Junior Cadet Corps (JCC) building and stole specialized equipment that students use to compete in drill meets. JCC is the middle school branch of the Junior ROTC program.
Stolen from the students cadets were 5 simulated rifles, a commander’s saber, an American flag and a Texas flag. Total value for the missing items is just under $1,000.
Principal James Garcia says the items will be replaced thanks to the generosity of a donor.
“The person came to me and wrote out a check for $1,050 and said it was a gift from Santa. And a second donor has also asked about helping out, too.”
The JCC cadets from J.P. Elder are in the final preparations for their first competition of the year this weekend. The Fort Worth ISD Fall Drill Meet will be held on Saturday, December 1, at Trimble Tech High School field and tennis court areas. Cadets will be using borrowed equipment for this competition. Activities at the Drill Meet include academics, physical fitness and drill performance. Events will take place from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
