FAITH-BASED GROUP HELPS FWISD FAMILIES ON MLK DAY

Fort Worth, Texas - The Tarrant Area Community of Churches hosted its Third Annual MLK Day of Service on Monday, January 21, 2013 by helping to distribute important Fort Worth ISD information to families in the Rosemont neighborhood of Fort Worth.

Over the course of three hours, 25 volunteers knocked on doors making personal contact with more than 40 families of Fort Worth ISD students.  Volunteers distributed Parent Portal and College Experience 2013 postcards and advised family members how to stay up-to-date with the Fort Worth ISD through all of its online platforms.

This project developed from a conversation Superintendent Walter Dansby had with Rev. Melinda Veatch, the executive director of the Tarrant Area Community of Churches. It was one of more than two dozen projects conducted by the faith-based group on the Day of Service.
