Read 2 Win Literacy Program in Need of More Reading Coaches!

The Read 2 Win Literacy Campaign is a collaboration between the Fort Worth ISD and Tarrant NET to engage faith-based community volunteers to help eliminate the literacy deficit of elementary school-aged students.

Keys to raising literacy rates are to:

  • Partner a church with an elementary school
  • Train and deploy 1,000 Volunteer Reading Mentors over the next 5 years
  • Concentrate efforts on first graders

The strategy is simple but can be a powerful tool to help children learn to read, which is the basis for success in all other content areas!

For the 2012-13 school year, 30 churches are focusing on 31 elementary schools and recruiting reading mentors for more than 400 first grade students.

To learn more about how your church can participate in Read 2 Win, Contact Tarrant NET at 817.738.0607 or the Fort Worth ISD's Parent and Public Engagement Department at 817.814.2969.
