Advanced Placement

AP courses are offered at 14 high school sites. As the Advanced Placement program in Fort Worth continues to expand, the academic coordinators work with their high schools’ Advanced Placement teachers to ensure that each course fits the framework of a college course. The AP Audit, conducted for the first time in 2007, has provided each Advanced Placement teacher in Fort Worth ISD the opportunity to review his/her current content by comparing what he/she teaches to college level requirements. By writing a professional syllabus according to College Board guidelines, students are assured they will receive instruction equal to a college survey course while still in a supportive high school environment.

PSAT

Fort Worth ISD offers PSAT released tests to all 8th and 9th graders for preparation and placement purposes, PSAT test to all 10th graders for AP potential, and the opportunity for all 11th graders to take the PSAT/NMSQT to qualify for college scholarships.

Fort Worth ISD offers Summer PSAT/SAT Preparation Courses at 5 high school sites.  Courses help students raise test scores, win scholarships, and gain entry to the college of their choice.  Please see the brochure for specific dates, times, contact information, and registration form.

ACCESS: An Advanced Placement Incentive grant that aims to open the door to AP.

ACCESS (Advanced College Coursework Encouraging Scholarship and Success) is a comprehensive project at our secondary schools to recruit new students into AP courses, ensure that courses are offered at all schools, and increase the success rate of all students on AP exams.  Key components of ACCESS are Summer Scholar Academies for rising 7th - 11th graders, AP Chinese and/or Japanese courses, AP Nights at every high school (see link to the right for dates and times,) and intensive teacher training opportunities.

AP Sofa Studies

Streaming video AP study sessions have been created and added to Fort Worth ISD's website to aid both AP teachers and students in their preparation for the AP exams in May.  You can access the videos at our Communication's Streaming Media page, under High Schools:
