Adult Literacy

Adult Literacy classes are geared for students that are learning to read. Literacy instruction is integrated within all of our ABE/GED classes. The Adult Literacy course is coupled with Beginning Adult Basic Educational components which include:

Reading

  • Vocabulary
  • Comprehension
  • Structural Analysis
  • Phonemic Awareness
  • Social Studies and Science may be introduced at the Beginning ABE level

Writing

  • Holistic Writing
  • Complete Sentences
  • Simple paragraphs

Numeracy

  • Simple number concepts
  • Operations
  • Measurements
  • Money
  • Problem Solving
