Bilingual/ESL

The Bilingual/ESL Department coordinates and implements quality programs for English language learners.

It is the goal of the Fort Worth ISD Bilingual/ESL Department that:

  • All students who enter the Fort Worth ISD in grades PK – 8 placed in a Bilingual or ESL program will reach full proficiency in English within five years and pass all state-required academic tests.
  • All students who enter Fort Worth ISD in grade 9 or above and are placed in an ESL program will meet graduation requirements in four years, including passing the state-required tests.

The Bilingual/ESL Department envisions English language learners achieving high levels of language proficiency to be competitive in a rigorous work force.
