 Applied Learning Academy

The Applied Learning Academy is a 6th to 8th grade campus where the approach to education encourages children to both learn independently and become team members in a stimulating environment with strong links to the community. Applied learning is based on the belief that, to be relevant, learning must apply to career and life situations.

The Academy promotes critical thinking, creativity and collaboration working with businesses and organizations outside of the classroom by completing hands-on, real-world projects that reinforce classroom teaching. The leadership and social skills the students experience will better prepare them for future career choices.

  • Advanced courses available in art, math, English and Spanish
  • Academic teaming to strengthen collaboration between grade level teachers
  • Use of Renzulli web-based program where students are able to access work at home for independent research
  • Classroom collaboration with the Botanic Gardens, BRIT, National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame, local businesses, professionals and artists

Attention: Alice Carlson & Riverside ALC 5th grade parents
You will receive preference to Applied Learning Academy ONLY if it is listed as your first choice on the Choices application.
