PRE-ENGINEERING IN PETROLEUM TECHNOLOGY & BROADCAST JOURNALISM

Pre-Engineering in Petroleum Technology and Broadcast Journalism will expose students to project-based experiences in both fields. Our motto will be "Develop, Guide and Prepare."

Pre-Engineering in Petroleum Technology will consist of a course track that includes guiding students through rigorous college readiness classes. Students in Pre- Engineering will take a course track that includes Accelerated Math 6-8, Accelerated Science 6-7, Algebra I and Biology. Both programs will prepare students for future careers and for programs of choice at Southwest High School.

Broadcast Journalism students will create products within their track to display an understanding of their field using in and out of classroom experiences. Students in Broadcast Journalism will take a course track that exposes them to production videos, video announcements and the creation of communication products such as yearbook or writing for the school website.

WEDGWOOD 6TH

  • Experiences and creation of campus-wide announcements and other publications such as the campus newsletters and yearbook in a computer lab (Broadcast Journalism)
  • Experiences in technical writing to be used in projects throughout all content areas (Pre-Engineering)
  • Field-based experiences and culminating projects
  • Access to the free after school activities in the Clayton Yes! program
  • Access to the AVID Program

WEDGWOOD MIDDLE SCHOOL

  • Access to high school credit in math, science and English I (Required for Pre-Engineering)
  • Create campus-wide video announcements, campus newsletters and yearbook publication in a technology lab (Broadcast Journalism)
  • Field-based experiences and culminating projects
  • Access to the free after school activities in the Clayton Yes! program
  • Access to the AVID Program
