The split-level design takes full advantage of the steep sloping site and offers an impressive three-story façade. The new middle school will be a Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS) Verified facility. One of the key components for CHPS Verified status is the geothermal water source for heating and cooling the entire facility. The new middle school is approximately 175,600 sq. ft. consisting of 6 academic core spaces, fine arts, life skills/special vocational programs, P.E., media center, administration and support facilities. The fine arts wing will consist of art rooms, a band hall, choir and drama rooms. Shared facilities will consist of a 600 seat auditorium and competition gymnasium, a multi-purpose gymnasium and a cafeteria with a stage. The site consists of parking for 200 cars, a large bus drop-off area, a hard surface play area with a 4 lane track and playing field. |

This new 75,000 square-foot elementary school is designed for 650 students and will house kindergarten through grade five. With 31 classrooms plus art, science, music, and computer labs, this is the first new school to move into the construction procurement phase. Two outdoor play areas complement the amenities that will be located in the adjacent park.
The Board of Education, consistent with its recently approved Sustainability Policy, has implemented a geothermal HVAC system, among many other “green” measures. |

The new Rosemont Elementary School is an 80,000 square foot facility, serving grades Pre-K through 5th with a Design Capacity of 650-750 students. Rosemont Elementary School will be located on the corner of 6th Avenue and W. Seminary Drive next door to Rosemont Middle School. A bus loop and visitor parking are located at the front of the building; parent drop-off and faculty parking are between the two schools. Academic spaces will support grade level instruction, science, art, music, computer instruction and special education programs. The activity room serves for physical education and with the stage will also serve as an assembly space. High windows across the ends of the gymnasium and the cafeteria will flood those spaces with natural light. High storefront windows will light the stairwells at each end of the building, and classrooms will have natural lighting from colored and clear glass. Environmentally, the reflective and insulated roof, the geothermal mechanical system, the insulated glass and shading devices, and the energy-efficient appliances will contribute to the energy savings expected from this building. The school’s unique design uses a colorful glass façade to provide a playful view from the corner intersection. Windows in the library provide views of the outdoor plaza and the adjacent playgrounds. |

Located on approximately 12 acres of undeveloped land just east of Loop 820 and north of I30, the new Fort Worth elementary school will relieve an underserved growing community. The proposed one-story facility addresses the prominent intersection with a welcoming ‘front porch’ that extends from the main entry and provides a protected gathering space. From this covered entry, the larger scaled public spaces are connected to form a vertical, light filled lobby that links the Media Center, Cafeteria, Gymnatorium and Administration areas. The facility is sited to front the main street with a linear public facade that faces northward to allow for controlled natural light throughout.
The program includes eight kindergarten classrooms, six 1st grade primary classrooms, 16 primary and intermediate classrooms, and two special education classrooms with a design capacity of 650 students. A loading dock will be located at the southeast corner of the building. The main parking lot will be located east of the school building and future expansion is planned west of the school building. Construction of the school is planned to begin in early 2010 allowing the school to open in the fall of 2011. |
