Helping Youth Pursue Excellence

This initiative is designed for 8^th grade students to gain a positive self-image and develop excellent communication skills by participating in one of five exciting categories: art, comedy, dance, drama, or poetry. HYPE meets for seven Saturday morning sessions. Each class is taught by dedicated teachers, high school and college volunteers. The participants’ hard work is celebrated at the final session called The Tournament of Champions. On this day, students compete against peers in their category and are rewarded for their participation at the banquet.  Parents will have the opportunity to participate in Saturday workshops about preparing their child for high school and college. They also assist in planning the banquet held on the last day of the program.
