Tarleton Model for Accelerated Teacher Education (TMATE)
A Texas teaching solution.
Do you want to earn $45,000 or more in your first year of teaching? Are you ready for a career change?
In a time rocked by economic uncertainty, consider a truly Texan answer to your career questions: the Fort Worth ISD’s partnership with the Tarleton Model for Accelerated Teacher Education.
This collaborative effort between the District and Tarleton State University’s TMATE program offers a straight path toward teacher certification for college graduates who want to teach in the Fort Worth ISD and receive the pay and benefits of a firstyear teacher.
How does it work?
The classes, which involve face-to-face sessions in Fort Worth as well as online work, meet at night and on Saturdays to accommodate work schedules. Depending on the program, participants will begin in either spring or summer.
What are my options?
Bachelor’s-degree candidates can seek certification only or pursue a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction. Graduate-degree students will take additional coursework after certification. Participants from high-need areas may receive tuition help via grants.
Become the best!
The TMATE program began in 1986. More than 30 TMATE-Fort Worth ISD teachers have been named “Outstanding Teacher of the Year” on their campuses within their first five years of teaching. TMATE-Fort Worth ISD teachers also have been awarded the “Chair for Teaching Excellence.”
