Substitute Teaching Employment Information

We appreciate your interest in the Fort Worth Independent School District. To ensure that your application is given careful and timely consideration you will need to follow the accompanying instructions as written. Your application will have active status for one year from the date on which it is received. Applications and all file data become the property of the Fort Worth ISD and will become inactive in one year. 

The daily rate of pay for substitute teachers is:

60 + hours but non-degreed - $73.00
Bachelor Degree or above - $77.00 

Please take a few moments to review the instructions and requirements.

  • Persons applying for substitute teaching in the Fort Worth ISD must have at least 60 hours from an accredited college or university and must have a land line phone.
  • Please complete the on-line job application. First time users will need to create a user ID and a password in order to complete an application. Please write this information down so that you will be able to go back to your application to make changes or updates as needed.
  • Only U.S. citizens or aliens legally entitled to work in the United States are eligible for employment.
  • All information requested must be completed on the application form. Incomplete applications will not be processed.
  • After the application is completed, applicants will be contacted by e-mail informing them when to bring the required documents to complete the screening process, be interviewed and scheduled for training.
  • Applicants will provide:
    • An official transcript (copies and unofficial transcripts cannot be accepted) from an accredited college or university showing at least a Bachelor Degree or a high school diploma and an official transcript with a minimum of 60 college hours from an accredited college or university.
    • A valid Driver License and Social Security Card.
    • Two current, satisfactory references or letters of recommendation. (Completed references are the responsibility of the applicant and must be obtained prior to processing the application. The district does not mail reference forms to nor call referents.)
  • When the application process is complete and approved, applicants will be scheduled for the following training session:
    • Ready, Set, Go Substitute Teacher Academy and Classroom Management Training (Requires the purchase of a handbook costing $24.00.)

The District requests that substitute teachers be available to work at least two (2) days per week.
