On Thursday, March 29, Daggett Middle School hosted the first of three Parent Nights with the SALI/LINC Program. Eight parents attended, with a total of 25 people present including students and siblings.
Oscar Benevides presented information from the SALI Program. His gentle and candid approach to parenting was 'real.' It was excellent and well received by parents.
After eating a meal together, students went to the gym to play games under the direction of Colleen Hildebrandt from SALI and Mr. Doug Widger, SALI Program and Minister at St. Paul Lutheran Church, while Oscar talked to parents about what teens wished parents knew and why parenting is so important to our students.
The group reunited in the gym where parents and students played a 'pass the banana' relay in teams and a final three games of tug of war (students vs parents). Everyone was very happy and it was a bonding moment for students in Teen Leadership classes with their parents.
The SALI Program plans to hold two more of these types of meetings with parents. Our Teen Leaders are amazing students with great parental support!
