Robotics on the Rise at Dunbar!

On Saturday, May 19, the Dunbar High School Engineering program and Dunbar Middle School Math, Science & Communication program introduced the launching of their redesigned programs, student expectations and future academic plans.

The two schools are working closely to better align their programs to further meet student academic needs. During the event, parents and students had the chance to meet the Dunbar High School’s award winning Robotics team and Engineering students and staff.

The Bell Helicopter-sponsored team recently won 1st place at the Lone Star Regional in Houston and placed 3rd in the national FIRST Robotics Competition.

The FIRST Robotics Competition challenges teams of young people and their mentors to solve a common problem in a six-week timeframe using a standard "kit of parts" and a common set of rules. Teams build robots from the parts and enter them in competitions designed by a committee of engineers and other professionals.
