Junior Cadet Corps Middle School Program (JCC)
Mission: Prepare students for responsible leadership roles while making them aware of their rights, responsibilities and privileges as American citizens.

Program:
- Title of Course: JUNIOR CADET CORPS
- Description of Course: The Junior Cadet Corps program is designed to prepare
middle school students for responsible leadership roles while making them aware of
their rights, responsibilities and privileges as American citizens. The curriculum will
include strategies to help students improve communication skills, enhance social and
ethical values, promote character development and physical fitness, and help
develop an “appreciation of teamwork through instruction in drill and ceremonies.”
Other activities may include parades, drill team competitions and various outdoor
activities. The course will help prepare middle school students for Junior ROTC in
high school.
- Duration: Two semesters (one school year)
- Time and Frequency: One class period (traditional or block)
- Grade Placement: 7- 8
- Amount of Credit: Substitute for PE

- Objectives:
- The student will:
- Develop an appreciation of the ethical values and principles that underlie good
citizenship which include integrity, responsibility and respect.
- Participate in activities that teach the rules of 'displaying the flag."
- Increase the potential for becoming a good leader.
- Learn to live and work cooperatively with others.
- Expand the ability to think logically and to communicate effectively both orally and
in writing.
- Develop a better understanding of 'patriotism" and what it means to be an
American.
- Become more informed about the importance of first aid, physical conditioning,
proper diet and nutrition.
- Engage in activities that foster pride, self-respect, confidence, serf-discipline and
the desire to do one's best.
- Gain exposure to current events and world affairs that help shape the future of
the country.
- Participate in drill and ceremonies.
• Develop a selfless service attitude by giving of time and energy to community and
school.

forums and guest speakers).
- Qualifications of Teacher: Certified Teacher (either active or former) United States
or National Guard Reserves or certified JROTC instructor. *The particular branch of
service is immaterial.
Special Notes:
• The Junior Cadet Corps will substitute for physical education in Grades 7-8 the same as JROTC does in high school.
