Dunbar High School

Principal: Carlos Walker

Senior Army Instructor:  Chief Warrant Officer Four (Ret) Lynn Taylor

The Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Program has been in existence at Dunbar since 1960.  We have established a long history of excellence in leadership. Our main goal is to prepare cadets to meet the challenges and demands in the 21st century. The graduation rate of four year cadets in our program exceeds 95%. JROTC is an Honors Course for three and four year cadets. We have cadets attending college at TCU, Baylor, UT, and other universities. Cadets have also chosen careers in the armed forces.

We are rated as a gold star unit by the U. S. Army. This honor is only given to the best units in the JROTC Program Nationwide (top ten percent). Our achievements reflect directly on the motivation and commitment of the cadets that we have in our program.

Mission: To motivate young people to be better citizens.

Values: Leadership, Teamwork, Service, Responsibility
