WHAT CHANGES TO EXPECT WITH STAAR

  1. Increased rigor
  2. More test questions
  3. Time limit - 4 hour time limit on each STAAR test
  4. Writing and English tests given over two days with multiple compositions
  5. Middle school students who are enrolled in a high school credit course, like Algebra I or English I, will take the STAAR End of Course test for that subject rather than the STAAR grade level test.

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

STAAR is the testing requirement for graduation beginning with the graduating class of 2015 – our current 10th graders.

UNDER CURRENT STATE LAW

There are 15 EOC tests for graduation, and each student must meet a cumulative score for each content area.

There are three graduation plans: Distinguished, Recommended and Minimum. Check with your student’s academic counselor to discuss your student’s graduation plan.
