How to Enroll

Students new to the district should contact their neighborhood school principal as soon as they are settled in Fort Worth. Fall registration, held at individual schools, usually begins in August, although pre-registration for kindergarten is available at some schools in the spring. A child must be age 5 by Sept. 1 to enter kindergarten and age 6 by Sept. 1 to enter first grade.

• To find out what school your child will attend, call the Student Records Office at 817-814-3250 or see our online school locator. To register, parents must bring the child’s birth certificate, immunization records, proof of residence, Social Security card and report card (if applicable). Parents whose first-grader has previously attended kindergarten should also bring his or her report card.
  
• Students transferring into the District from another district or state will need their report cards and immunization records. Contact the individual school about registration for transfer students.
  
• Records normally required of all students in order to enroll are NOT required of students who are in homeless situations in order to enroll. This includes proof of residency, proof of guardianship, school or immunization records, birth certificates, and social security cards.
