“The difference is in us.” That’s the motto at Polytechnic High School where everyone is encouraged to take responsibility for student success. 975 students are enrolled for 2007-2008. They are the Parrots, proudly parading their school colors of orange, black and white.
Polytechnic is eligible to become a National Historic Monument. The school was built in 1937 as part of the PWA building program. It stands on a bluff in the historic Poly area. Noted Fort Worth architect Joseph R. Pelich designed the Georgian Revival style building.
Many Poly alumni have “made a difference.” Famous and influential graduates include former Fort Worth Mayor Ken Barr, MSNBC anchor Tamron Hall, Dallas Fire Chief Eddie Burns, Sr., and former Tarrant County Sheriff Lon Evans.

- What is your philosophy (in 1 or 2 sentences) about teaching/education?
Teaching is about building relationships among individuals, among teams and among concepts being taught. Each day classrooms should have active, participatory, hands-on, engaging, meaningful lessons related to the real world.
- What excites you about your new challenge as a PEAK principal?
The opportunity to redesign an antiquated high school system to meet the challenges facing our teaching staff and to help shape the boundless future that lies ahead for our students. What an awesome mission!
