Beginning in the 2008-09 academic year, PEAK teachers will be financially rewarded for their students’ academic growth. But, PEAK encourages collaboration, cooperation and professional growth – not competition. It is based on rewards and incentives, not sanctions and interventions. It is consistent with the philosophy that teaching is a team sport, and building leadership capacity in each school through developing teacher expertise will ultimately, have the greatest impact on student achievement.
PEAK schools offer many pluses, an additional five (5) contract days at the daily rate, additional clerical support for teachers, structured mentoring, master teacher coaches for new teachers. At many schools, campus test coordinators/data managers and additional instructional support for each content area are provided.
Participant schools are Dunbar HS, Eastern Hills HS, Polytechnic HS, South Hills HS, Diamond Hill-Jarvis HS, Dunbar 6th, Dunbar MS, Handley MS, Kirkpatrick MS, Meadowbrook MS, Como ES, Morningside ES, Oaklawn ES, Sunrise-McMillian ES and Turner ES.
Read interviews as PEAK principals at the nine recommitment and retention PEAK schools outline their visions. Also learn more about the history of each school and the traditions and pride each campus brings to the whole of the Fort Worth ISD.
PEAK will be funded by the state DATE program and matching funds from the Fort Worth ISD.
It is essential that we continue to hear from you as we evolve the PEAK program. Please share your ideas, thoughts, and observations. Send your comments to peak@fwisd.org.
