Be Prepared for Emergencies 

ClassroomPREPAREDNESS PRESENTATIONS FOR CLASSROOMS

In addition to preparedness training, for emergencies and critical incidents, FWISD has Professional School Counselors, Licensed Intervention Specialists and Licensed Specialists in School Psychology who have received Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) training. These professionals are ready to respond to any campus that needs assistance with students or staff who have been involved in an anxiety heightened situation.

Parents are encouraged to talk to their children about the drills so the children are confident in their role if an emergency occurs.

OUTDOOR WARNING SYSTEM

Weather radioDid you know that emergency sirens are not meant to be heard indoors? They are specifically designed for sound to travel outside. If you are outside and hear a Warning Siren, seek shelter immediately and tune to National Weather Service radio or your local news media for more information.You can learn more about Fort Worth's Outdoor Warning System and siren locations at The City of Fort Worth's Office of Emergency Management website.

Tornado intensities are classified on the Enhanced Fujita Scale with ratings between EF0 (weakest) to EF5 (strongest). They are capable of completely destroying well-made structures, uprooting trees and hurling objects through the air.
