 Partner with Schools

How the School Partners program works:  A company or organization is matched with a school based on the needs of the school and the company’s or organization’s available resources.  A school may have more than one adopter, and any size business or organization can make a difference.

Activities and programs are planned to support the goals of the school and to positively influence academic achievement.  Some of the activities implemented include pen pal programs, tutoring, mentoring, exploration of higher education and career opportunities, workplace exposure and incentives for academic achievement, attendance and behavior.

Age group served:  All grade levels, Pre-K-12, are served through School Partners.

Schools served:  All Fort Worth ISD schools are eligible.

Time commitment:  The time commitment is flexible, ranging from implementation of annual activities to opportunities for involvement on a weekly or monthly basis.

Partner Spotlight

Travis Avenue Baptist Church has been actively involved in several after-school initiatives with George C. Clarke for many years.  In early 2012, school officials shared that they could use some help in encouraging their students to develop a greater love for reading.  In response, church members came together to build, paint and decorate 70 bookcases so each fourth-grade student would have one to take home.

But they didn’t stop there!  Next, Travis Avenue Baptist Church led a book drive and collected 815 new or gently used books to give to the students.

Students were so incredibly proud to receive these treasured books, along with the beautiful bookcases where they can store their treasures, and revisit them for many years to come.

Congratulations to Travis Avenue Baptist Church and George C. Clarke Elementary for becoming the 2012 Partnership of Excellence for Elementary Schools!

Congratulations Golden Achievement Award Winners!

The Fort Worth Independent School District (FWISD) is pleased to announce that 56 community partners earned the Golden Achievement Award for Partnership Excellence for the 2011-2012 school year. Employees from these partnerships have given their time, talent and resources to support strategic activities and programs for students and teachers in the district.
The award was established to give recognition to the partners who made significant contributions to the education of students or the support of teachers. Award winners include businesses, faith-based organizations, higher education, financial institutions, non-profit organizations, and government entities. This is the sixth year that it has been awarded.
