Secondary Literacy

The Fort Worth Independent School District's Secondary Literacy Department envisions a literate citizenry of students as effective communicators of oral and written language, whose habits of mind interpret texts and construct solutions in order to meet the multiple challenges of life in a global economy.

The mission of the Fort Worth Independent School District's Secondary Literacy Department is to support our students' growth as writers, readers, and critical thinkers and as knowledgeable producers of the English language, employing both its receptive and productive aspects with authority and precision.

Strategic Goals:

  • All students will learn at high levels of academic expectations resulting in the elimination of the achievement gap.
  • All operations in the district will be efficient and effective.
  • Family involvement and community partnerships will be an integral part of the education of all children.
